How to Live Stream to YouTube from Your IP Camera in 8 Easy Steps
In this article we will go over the steps on how to live stream to YouTube directly from your BZBGEAR Camera. It is assumed that your camera is connected to your LAN and has an IP address that is compatible with your router's settings. If this has not been done refer to our knowledge base articles on addressing your camera here or here.
Please note that if this is your first time live streaming on YouTube, it takes 24 hours to activate the live stream.
Step 1:
Login to your YouTube account and click on the camera icon at the top right of the interface and select “Go Live”. This will navigate you to YouTube Studio.
Step 2:
Select the “Manage” tab on the left side of the page, select “Schedule Stream” on the right side, then select “Create New”.
Here you will fill in all your stream details (title, description, time of stream, etc.). When done, select “Create Stream” to advance to the stream settings page:
Step 3:
Open a second tab in your web browser and login to your camera’s web interface. From the Configuration page, select “Audio Configure” and enable the audio. For the best audio, select AAC for “Encode Type” and change “Bit Rate” to 128Kbps. Hit save and reboot the camera to apply the audio settings.
Step 4:
Navigate to Stream Publish. Check the box to enable the Main Stream. Make sure the Protocol Type is set to RTMP.
In the Host Address field enter the Stream URL information provided by YouTube. Return to your YouTube streaming settings page and select “Copy” next to the “Stream URL” address provided:
Return to Stream Publish on the camera interface and paste the information copied from YouTube into the Host Address field:
Step 5:
Host Port should be set to 1935.
Step 6:
In the Stream key field, enter the Stream key information provided from YouTube. Return to your YouTube streaming settings page and select Copy next to the Stream Key address provided.
Return to Stream Publish in the camera interface and paste the Stream Key information copied from YouTube. Select save when finished.
Step 7:
Navigate to Configuration -> DNS in the camera interface. In the Preferred DNS Server field enter 8.8.8.8. Enter 8.8.4.4 in the Alternative DNS Server field.
Select save to store your settings. Restart the camera for the settings to take effect.
Step 8:
Once the camera has rebooted, the video feed will be sent to your YouTube page and you will see a preview of your live stream at the top of your stream setting page. There may be a delay, so please be patient!
When ready, select “Go Live” on the top right of your YouTube interface. You are now live streaming.
The Next time you want to live stream, return to the Manage tab on your YouTube Studio page and select Schedule Stream. Select Reuse Settings, then select Create. This will being the stream using the previously established settings.
