How to Send VISCA Commands
In this guide, we will cover the necessary information and software required to effectively send VISCA commands to your IP camera. If you continue to experience issues after following this guide, please contact BZBGEAR support for further assistance.
Step 1: Obtain the Correct VISCA Commands for Your Camera
Ensure you have the correct VISCA commands for your specific camera model. If you are unsure, reach out to BZBGEAR or your camera manufacturer to obtain the appropriate VISCA command list.
Step 2: Download the Required Software
Download a software application such as Packet Sender, which can be used to send and receive TCP and UDP packets.
Step 3: Verify the Correct Port Number
Ensure you are using the correct port number for your camera. If you are uncertain, refer to the camera’s manual or web interface to find the network protocol settings. You will need to use the IP Visca port number.
Step 4: Understand the Command Structure
Read through the command’s function and notes to ensure you are using it correctly and inserting the proper information where needed.
Example: If the preset recall string is 81 01 04 3F 02 nn FF, where nn is the preset number, ensure you enter the correct preset number in place of nn before sending the command. Additionally, double-check that the preset has been saved on the camera. For instance, to recall preset number 2, use the command 81 01 04 3F 02 02 FF.
Troubleshooting Command Failures
If your command fails, please check the following:
- Network Connection:
- Ensure the camera is properly networked.
- Confirm that the PC or laptop being used is on the same network as the camera.
- Accuracy of Information:
- Double-check all information used, including the IP address, port number, protocol, and command code.
- Firmware Version:
- Verify with your camera’s manufacturer that the firmware is up-to-date and supports the command string you are attempting to use.
Following these steps should help you successfully send VISCA commands to your IP camera. If issues persist, BZBGEAR support is available to assist you further.
